Twisting and Pulling – A Key to Hair Loss
Many people experience hair loss because of genetic issues and the fact that male and female pattern baldness is passed down from generation to generation. There are also times, however, whenever hair loss is something that is totally avoidable and the fact that people are losing their hair is due to something that is self-inflicted. A good example of this is when an individual has a problem with twisting their hair and pulling it, a common practice that needs to be avoided. The reason why is simple, it leads to hair loss.
Many people may feel that twisting their hair is rather harmless or that pulling out their hair does not really do any damage. The simple fact of the matter is, however, these practices can not only lead to temporary hair loss, they may actually damage the scalp to the extent that permanent hair loss sets in. Many people who twist their hair on a regular basis also do so habitually, without even realizing that they are doing it in many cases. It is not unusual for these individuals to experience patchy hair loss that is rather unsightly.
Of course, it is not always a habitual course of twisting your hair that causes these kind of problems. It may also be due to certain hairstyles that you are wearing regularly. For example, ponytails that are pulled to tightly may cause quite a bit of damage to the scalp and the follicle. The same is also true for individuals that wear cornrows on a regular basis or may have their hair braided regularly. Although these hairstyles may be nice-looking, there are also extremely damaging and should be avoided or at least limited in the amount that you’re going to do them.
For the most part, abusing your hair in this way is not going to lead to permanent hair loss whenever it is not done constantly. If you continue to damage your scalp and hair, however, it may get to the point where the hair does not grow back as easily or perhaps does not grow back at all. It is a much better idea for you to choose a hair fashion that is not as restrictive or perhaps to reduce the amount of pulling and twisting that you are doing habitually. It can take a little bit of time to kick this habit but the effects will be well worth it.
